We sent Cherie and Sunny to the vet’s last July on the following morning after Joey was examined at the Veterinary Hospital.
While this wasn’t their first time at this vet (both were neutered here last year) this was their first time going to the vet’s together!
Neither cat was thrilled to be there but it had to be done. Cheryl had spiked a slight fever and limped, possibly getting hurt running away from the crosseyed tom cat who lingered around our home after he had caught the scent of Mimi the mother cat’s hormones.
Sunny had some kind of inner ear infection and the poor boy was scratching his ears, leaving claw marks on his face. We’ve always thought that he got them from a fight with the neighborhood cats.
Believe it or not, it wasn’t Sunny who put up a fierce struggle getting into the pet carrier. It was Cherie, our tortie! It took us twenty minutes to literally push her in as she used her hind legs to resist.
Once inside, both kitties did their best to control their anxiety. Sunny would usually pee in the carrier out of fear while Cherie appeared to be calm. Once she managed to poke her head through the flap, it was impossible to push her back in.
The past three months had been quite stressful for me. I’m the only one at home who gets the unenviable job of driving our cats to the vet’s and I do get sick from time to time.
My nephew used to lend a hand by driving Joey and I to the veterinarian, but since he had landed a steady job last year, I couldn’t trouble him anymore.
