Bracknell depot closure – B5 at Harmans Water

Bracknell depot closure - B5 at Harmans Water

Friday 28th August 2015 is the last day of operation of First’s Bracknell depot; it is being closed down.

Commercial services B1/B2/B3/B5, 94 and 191 will end on Friday 28th.

Legoland route 200 will move to Slough depot, and receive an enhanced timetable (currently, the 191 supplements the 200).

Greenline services 700/701/702 will be diverted between Legoland and Ascot & Bracknell via the current 191 route, from Saturday 29th. With the commencement of the winter timetable, from Saturday 26th September 2015, the 700 and 701 variants will be withdrawn ‘for the winter,’ with the main 702 running hourly, still through to Bracknell and over the old 191 route.

Route 90 (Bracknell – Reading) was sold to Reading Buses, who took over back on 26th July 2015.

Council tendered services (108, 53/153, 151/A) were lost to Courtney Buses (who won all of Bracknell Forest Council’s tenders); Courtney took over on 13th July 2015.

To replace withdrawn route B5, Bracknell Forest Council route 156 (run by Courtney) is being revised to include a huge double run down to Harmans Water and back.

Unfortunately, it’s only hourly (the B5 is half hourly), and also has the negative effect of dragging the existing passengers around the double run).

It will run down Ralph’s Ride, past Harmans Water shops, then along Harmans Water Road (turning around Nightingale Crescent) and back again.

The B5 currently runs down Ralph’s Ride, then uses a bus-only cut through into Forest Park, and then back via Crown Wood and Harmans Water Road.

While Crown Wood sees other services, Forest Park will loose its bus service, with no replacement.

So in this corner of Bracknell, First’s departure is a disaster if you rely on buses.

Beeline Citaro 64012 (LT52 WXA) is seen here at Harmans Water shops on a B5.
