Lowe’s Food Stores operates a chain of about 105 in North and South Carolina and Virginia. The stores offer traditional supermarket fare, including fresh meat, seafood, deli, and bakery departments, in addition to natural foods and supplements. Shoppers can earn S&H greenpoints to be redeemed for more than 1,000 products from the Lowe’s Food Rewards Catalog. In a twist on the decades-old program the points are electronic. The regional chain is upgrading selected stores and customer service as Wal-Mart Supercenters expands in its market. Founded in 1954 as a single store in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Lowe’s Food Stores is owned by food distributor Alex Lee.
