Personality: Normally Orison is a very quiet and pious young man. He reads his bible regularly and prays the rosary every night repenting for his sins and asks for penance for his inability to stop his wrath. He fights it every time but the rage is too strong for him. While Berserk, he is a merciless fighter. Not one to shy away from anyone or thing, he throws himself into battle and strikes down anything in his way, leaving destruction in his wake.

History: At the age of 5 years old, Orison’s parents began noting that the young child although normal most of the time had a very mean streak to him at other times. When spanked for misbehaving, he’d throw the worst tantrums that his parents and even psychologists had ever seen. Prescribed to medication to calm him down did nothing to lessen his violent nature.

Growing up he was always a small lanky boy which just fueled bullies to pick on him and tease him. He couldn’t help that he was small, he was born 4 weeks premature and hadn’t grown to his full size yet. In his early teens, his anger became clear to all and no longer explainable as tantrums. HE played junior league hockey until he was thrown out for hospitalizing the entire bench of the opposing team.

After each attack, orison would rush to the local church and confess all his sins and do penance regularly. Numerous times, he begged the priest to perform an exorcism upon him to get the demon of hate out of him. However, the priest never gave into the request. He believed Orison just had anger issues.

Upon reaching high school, things didn’t get much worse. Orison developed a sense of altruism because of his study of the Scriptures, he couldn’t see harm come to other people. On a day that forever is burned into his mind, Orison tapped into his true power along with the first willing use of his berserker spirit. Some weak minded student had lost touch with reality and brought a gun to school. He open fired inside Orison’s class.

The screaming from the scared and wounded triggered something within the man. Their painful wails filled his body with a sense of power and Orison turned rage-filled eyes upon the shooter. From the pious man’s lips poured, “Between Heaven and Earth stands Azriel with blade drawn in hand, and he is destruction of all.” The rational mind of Orison became sealed away by the anger and rage he felt towards the school shooter.

Charging through the remaining rounds that the terrified youth unleashed at him, Orison took two shots to the stomach and onto to the shoulder but still he charged. When the bloodlust cleared, Orison awoke staring into the lifeless eyes of the shooter before being carted away to the hospital. Orison was sickened by the murder of the shooter. It took many months of religious and psychological counseling for him to come terms with his actions that night.

His parents, hearing of the institute met and spoke personally with the dean about their son Orison. They wanted their son to attend in hopes of him being able to learn to control his powers.

Berserker: The powers of the berserker is unleashed in one of two ways. The first of which being pain. Any amount of pain that causes the afflicted to wince will trigger the blind fury of pure rage. The second method is by use of a trigger phrase, the afflicted can condition their berserking rage to take affect by an uttering of the phrase. Since this is a willful use of anger, the power of the berserker increases slightly when compared to the pain induced rage.

With much thanks to his dear priest, Orison developed a phrase that would lessen his rage and drain away some of his fury. The phrase would cut the time left in his frenzy in half but it needed to be spoken calmly, and clear enough so that Orison could hear each word and intonation.

Either way, when berserk the afflicted can no longer rationalize the world around him. Anyone caught in his path will be viewed as an enemy and dealt with in an appropriate manner, mainly being attacked ruthlessly. While in this frenzy, his body is under constant strain and can only tolerate the stress of berserking for two minutes per dot level.

Because of the terrifying and uncontrollable rage bubbling inside him, the State has mandated that for 22 hours per day he is to be strapped and chained into a steel reinforced electric wheel chair with his arms, legs and chest buckled down and covered with another metal plating to help limit the risk of him breaking free if enraged. At night, he must be strapped and chained down to a metal bed that has a metal lid than is lowered then bolted into place leaving only his head free. This ensures that he doesn’t sleep frenzy
