The Privileges and Immunities of the IAEA – Enabling Implementation of the Nuclear Law Framework through IAEA Officials, Inspectors, Experts on Mission and Equipment

The privileges and immunities of the Agency, its officials, experts and property are fundamental agreed terms that permit the Organization to exercise its functions and implement its mandate in a manner free from undue interference and restrictions. The Side Event will look at the legal framework that provides the basis for these privileges and immunities and examine their practical application, excluding the protections provided to individuals and equipment, both at headquarters and while on mission.
