Baby teeth are temporary but they are still quite important because your child has to live with those teeth for a few first years of life. Now you can imagine the discomfort your #child may have when he loses the primary teeth and, as a result, feels an inability to chew the foods properly. The major reason for the tooth loss in initial years is baby bottle tooth decay. Although this tooth decay is specifically associated with the upper front teeth, other teeth can also be affected due to this issue.
There can be many factors due to which tooth decay can occur in the upper front teeth of your baby. However, the most common one is the prolonged exposure of teeth to the drinks that contain larger amount of sugar.
Another reason for the tooth decay is the passing of bacterial from mother to baby’s mouth. it typically happens when mother or caregiver puts baby’s spoon or pacifier in her mouth in order to clean the item. Putting the item back into the baby’s mouth causes oral bacterial from mother’s mouth to be transferred into the baby’s mouth. There are the very bacteria that can result in tooth decay. Since baby’s oral cavity doesn’t have strong immunity against bad bacteria, the tooth decay becomes the real risk in this scenario.
If your baby’s mouth is not getting adequate amount of #fluoride, tooth decay can begin. We all know how important the fluoride is for the health of tooth enamel. So, you need to visit the dentist and ask if there can be any specific solution to fulfill the fluoride requirement of baby.
Prevention of tooth decay
The prevention of baby bottle tooth decay in your kids can be ensured with proper care. A few things are worth mentioning in this regard.
•You have to make sure that you are not sharing your #saliva with your baby in any way. Moreover, you will need to clean the baby’s gums after feeding the baby. You can use a wet cloth for this purpose.
•With the eruption of first tooth, you will need to pay attention to the cleaning of that #tooth. Baby toothbrush is the right item you can consider. Moreover, you can bring a children’s toothpaste because normal toothpastes can be abrasive for babies.
•Between the age 3 and 6 years of your child, you will need to give toothpaste of the size of a pea with the toothbrush they use.
•Until the age of 7, you will need to supervise the teeth’s brushing of your child. This is to ensure that they do not swallow the paste while brushing.
•If it is important for your child to be given bottle for drinking milk, you have to make sure that you are avoiding pouring any kind of sugary drink in the bottle.
•Do not dip the pacifier in milk or honey before giving it to be baby.
•Try to develop healthy eating habits in your kid.
Apart from everything mentioned above, you have to make sure that you take your child to the dentist the moment he receives first tooth. This dental visit will help you avoid tooth decay in your baby.
